Why Twitter Has Failed Me

Twitter makes me angry sometimes you know why? It's because you start out with an agenda that you will follow interesting people who have interesting things to say, and over time those interesting people become less interesting with even more less interesting things to say. Then you get caught in the "I like this Tweeter, but what they retweet is just, UGH!" Trust I know, that is the very bind I find myself in right now.

I like to think of myself as a kind, sweet, and tolerant person, but Twitter has me walking on a fine line of "Bitch Get Off My TL (time line) With Your Spamming and Nonsense", and "What an Intellectual Tweet that was."

So here we are with a list of Twitter rules I feel every fellow Tweeter should follow.

1. If the Tweet was sent out over 24 hours ago DO NOT Retweet it!

2. Spamming is a no no and you will go go right off of my following list.

3. I don't care about who is following you, if I did, I would be stalking your followers list.

4. Follow Friday's have gotten out of hand. I am grateful that you like my Tweets however, spamming my TL with a giant generated list of #FF shout outs will get you an automatic pass to Unfollow Me Friday hell.

5. If someone takes the time out to Tweet you (and you're not a celebrity) due at least acknowledge them. Stating that you don''t have the time to answer back makes you look like an ass because if you didn't have the time then you wouldn't be tweeting in the first place.

6. STOP SENDING ME KANYE TWEETS! I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK WHAT HE HAS TO SAY!

7. Since I've checked Twitter was a place of free speech so if you don't like what someone has to say, hit UNFOLLOW.

8. This is not a dating service. If you need help in that department call Oprah, or visit eharmony.com

9. Follow for Follow? Fuck no! The end!

10. STOP FOR THE LOVE OF POTTER spamming celebrity Twitter accounts with I love you's, can you please follow me, say hi to me, I will die if you don't..., please look at this. It's pathetic people. really.

11. Don't get offended when someone decides not to follow you. Their follows should not be imperative to your everyday life. If you're that desperate... well I have no words for you.

12. Twitter is not intended for extended conversations. If you have something to say that's more than the allotted 140 character limit, send it in an email.

When I Grow Up I Want To Be...

Often I wonder where I would I be had I pursued my childhood dreams. I remember being a little girl and going through that phase of wanting to be a ballerina, doctor, queen, and actress, but not one of them stuck with me like being a paleontologist did. I remember struggling with wanting to be both The Little Mermaid and a famous digger upper of dinosaur bones.

I guess all fingers could be ppointed at the movie The Land Before Time (1988). I was about 4 years old when that movie came out and all I can remember was being so in love with Sara the triceratops, and Ducky. Of course at that age, I fell in love with a lot of things (see 1989 when I went through my Little Mermaid Phase and) and so I was a bit sketchy on who/what I wanted to be in life.

Me at the age of 4 (glasses and bone not included)

22 years have passed since then and I still find myself thinking about my old aspirations. What if I would've taken that road of paleontology? Would I be happier in life? Would I feel much more fulfilled? Can I really bring my BIGGEST childhood dream to fruition? What I'm afraid of most is that I may never get the answer to those questions. That inner Mary Leakey in me keeps piping up whenever I make a decision about my career goals, and it makes me question a lot of things in my life.

There seems to be no room for the what ifs in the land of adulthood when it comes to those types of decisions. Have many of you put your childhood dreams on the back burner or hidden deep within a closet because reality has a totally different plan for you? I try to carry out as many of my dreams as I possibly can, but I can say that I envy those that are able to pursue whatever it is their hearts desire.

Now, I don't have kids or a husband waiting at home for me nor do I have some amazing career that I am scared to walk away from, so I know what is truly holding me back, is my enemy by the name of failure. I struggle with being afraid of failing, not just anyone, but myself. Failing to do what it is that I set out to do has been my enemy all of my life. My head is all "do what you know will work", and my heart is all "but you will never know unless you try." BLAH!

What I want is to just jump with a leap of faith and see where it takes me, but alas life, dear sweet life has not afforded me with a heart and head that agrees with each other and so I am left in the middle. I straddle on the fence of realistic and unrealistic ideas and it about drives me coo coo bananas.

And so my point of this post is this, whether or not your ideas, dreams, goals from your childhood seemed attainable don't talk or think yourself out of it, go for it!

Building Your Bridge In 2011 So YOU Can Get Over It

Greetings, and Happy New Year to all of you. I made a promise to myself last year (which was literally last week) that I would blog more, or at least, attempt to blog more. So here I am bringing you ways to get over the petty things in life.

1. It is not yours unless you are the original inventor, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if someone else decides to use the same idea.

2. Just because you're on YouTube, have x amount of followers on Twitter, or a shit ton of people have liked your stupid page on Facebook does NOT make you a celebrity, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT.

3.  Life is not fair, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if you're at home damning the rest of the world because life has dealt you crappy hand.

4. It's a TV show, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if your favorite character gets paired with another character that you are currently having a fantasy quarrel with.

5. You might call it being nice, but I call it kissing ass, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if you're trying to seek extra attention from a celebrity and they don't reply to you.

6. Celebrities are real people first, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if he/she has a love life. Go to sleep and dream about it, but NEVER insult the loved ones of your favorite celeb.

7. It's not me, it's you... no, really it is you, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT.

8. If he/she wanted to include you, then you would be included, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT if you're feeling left out. Go take a nap, you'll be better for it.

9. Somewhere over the rainbow there's a pot of gold, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT because you will never find it.

10. Your fave show is on hiatus, so BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT I don't need to hear or read about it every single day. If you're life is at a standstill because you're fave show is on a break here's an idea, get a life!

Dear Future Husband

Dear future husband,

We haven't met yet, but I know you're out there. The perfect somebody for me. If you are reading this, then you have taken my heart for what I hope will be forever. I know that sometimes that our relationship will be hard, and you might want to give up on me, but don't. Don't mistake my lack of wanting to display my affection for you publicly as a sign that I don't love you because I do, I'm just not that kind of girl, but you would know that. When I ask to be left alone the BEST thing for you is to leave me alone. It's not because I don't love you, I just like to be alone sometimes so please understand that. I love that you like to stay up with me all night and just stare at the stars and contemplate alien invasions, or why we haven't gotten our hands on a flying car like in the Jetson's cartoon.

Thank you for not thinking that I'm weird because I hide from lightning. Thank you for being honest with me even if it will hurt me. Thank you for watching Pretty In Pink with me for the 100th time. Thank you for abandoning being an adult and being a kid with me sometimes. Thank you for the beautiful children we will have. Thank you for thinking I'm even more beautiful without all of my make-up. Thank you for getting lost with me because we're both too stubborn to ask for directions. Thank you for putting the seat down so that I won't fall in when it's my turn. Thank you for ordering that pizza over the phone because I hate ordering over the phone. Thank you for asking me what's on my mind even when I won't admit that I have something on my mind. Thank you for not leaving when we argue. Thank you for not going to bed angry.

Thank you for taking out the garbage, and killing that spider. Thank you for the million laughs and smiles you put on my face. Thank you for being there to wipe my tears away. Thank you for letting me know that there is nothing to fear. Thank you for reassuring me whenever I need reassuring. Thank you for being that shoulder. Thank you for taking care of me when I'm ill. Thank you for laughing when I stuff tissues up my nose because I get sick and tired of wiping it. Thank you for the cards, kisses, and hugs. Thank you for coming to get me when my car won't start. Thank you for helping provide. Thank you for dreaming, believing, and seeing. Thank you for all of your funny and not so funny jokes. Thank you for having a sense of humor. Thank you for protecting. Thank you for your loyalty. Thank you for growing old with me.

Most of all, thank you for being the most wonderful and amazing husband that I could ever ask for.

PS. I'm sure I will be back to add more over the years. <3

How Do You Know This Movie Sucks?

Film Metro was gracious enough to provide 2 movie screening passes for me and a guest to see How Do You Know last Thursday night, and honestly, if I had paid to see this movie, I would have demanded a refund!

I didn't really know much about the movie before hand except the fact that Reese's Pieces (Reese Witherspoon) was in it, so I figured it would be a sure bet, and boy did I think wrong. The movie seemed to be all over the place. Paul Rudd's character was awful, and why on God's green earth would Jack Nicholson of all actors want to be in this movie? He can't be that hard up for cash. No, not even Reese Witherspoon could have saved this disaster of a movie. The only glimmer of hope for How Do You Know was non other than Owen Wilson's asshole character, Matty.

I fought desperately not to break one of my movie going rules which is to NEVER FALL ASLEEP DURING A MOVIE EVER. I thought that pulling out my cell (which we were advised not to do during the screening or we'd be kicked out of the viewing) and getting kicked out by the secret service of movie screenings would be a lot more interesting than this movie, but alas, I didn't.

So, if you're wondering, pondering, or on the fence about checking out How Do You Know, I say pass. Wait for one of those 3 day weekend showings on TNT or something. At least then the only thing you'd be wasting is your time, and not your money.

Oh, and here is the trailer:

Shenna's Top 10 Future Ex Husbands List

About 10 years ago I started calling Justin Timberlake my future ex husband why? Who knows, but it stuck. I mean it's pretty obvious that the chances of me ever marrying him is like next to NEVER, but in my fantasy world (in my head) EVERY and ANYTHING is possible. Now if you know me, you know that I have an insatiable appetite for the opposite sex, and thus, I am always on the prowl for the next future ex Mr. Shenna. So with the encouragement of my friend Romancia (@romancialove) I give you my top 10 list of my future ex husbands.

10. Chuck Bass
The Bass is new to the list. His upper east side pompous attitude gives me EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED AND MORE (what can I say, I have a thing for massive douche lords)!!! All I can really say about him is... He's Chuck Bass!

9. Zach Roerig/Matty/Peeta
I made a poem about this dude and his eyes so blue. So glad he's still around on The Vampire Diaries for my, I mean our viewing pleasure. He "seems" so sweet, and well look at him! He's got that All American thing going on for him.
8. Chace Crawford
Maybe it's because he bares a striking resemblance to ex #3, or maybe it's because he looks like the kind of dude that would let me braid his hair ( I'm also totes into dudes who would let me braid their hair). Whichever the case, dude has that unattainable high school jock crush worthy thing going on for him.

7. Tom Cruise
Ah, Mr. Cruise. We have had a long journey together. You were my first love. My only love. I used to refer to myself as Mrs. Shenna Cruise, do you remember that? Of course you don't because that was totes in my fantasy land. Aside from his Oprah antics, and his marriage to Joey from Dawson's Creek *coughs*, he'll always be on my list. You had me at Legend.

6. Brad Pitt
YESSSS LOUIS!!! You are the first person who I wanted to become my maker. You have like 30 kids now and that is why you are number 6 on my list (Shenna and kids just don't mix quite yet). I think I maybe in love with your girlfriend/baby momma sooooooo, 3some? Haha just kidding *coughs*.

5. Gerard Butler
OH. MY. 300. ABS! How could I not have this man on my list?! His accent alone get's him a V.I.P. access  straight to my Victoria's Secret. And his arms, HARRY FREAKIN' POTTER TAKE ME NOW!

4. Johnny Depp
No matter if you're Jack, Edward, Gilbert, Wonka, or the Madd Hatter, you know you all can get it! I can't even express how talented this guy is. I have NEVER seen a Depp moving I haven't liked.

3. Ian Somerhalder
Hard choice to put you all the way at 3, but your 2 predecessors and I have a much longer history. You Mr. with those "take me" eyes of yours, are the epitome of sexy, not for obvious reasons, but because you are a do-gooder. You actually care about things outside of your celebrity realm. You have the most sincere and beautiful aura about you (I know because I met him, and though briefly, I could feel it). Your laugh melts me into a puddle of wonder twin nothingness. You, Sir, are awesome. Thank you!

2. Justin Timberlake
17 freaking years I have been crushing on this guy! I've had to battle through the Britney years, and the cutting off of the hair. I even stayed beside you when you used to wear those horrid bandannas. I've seen you in concert many times, and have yet to meet you. I feel like we are already married under common law, so when do I get my ring Mr. Timberlake?

1. Harry Potter
Yes, ladies and gents, Harry J. Potter is my numero uno future ex husband. I know, I know, I'm a bit of a cougar, but I love him *tear*. And because our Potter ride is coming to an end next year, I had to put him first. POTTER NOOOOO!!!

So that's it. That's my list. Who's on your list?

Ian Somerhalder Fans Take NOLA By Storm

This past Saturday, November 13, 2010, St. Tammany Humane Society held their first annual Unleashed Bash on the Bayou charity event in Louisiana. Although I wasn't able to attend personally (unless you count being there in spirit), my very dear friend and partner in crime Romancia (@romancialove) was able to give fans all around the world the best seats in the house all from the comforts of their homes via USTREAM live.

Attendees of this event were able to mix and mingle with none other than Mr. Ian Somerhalder himself. Yes, go ahead and fan yourselves if you need to. And as if that wasn't great enough in itself, about 40 generous people who donated $1,000 each were granted exclusive access to a champagne reception where they were able to get even more up close and personal with Ian. Mr. Somerhalder was gracious enough to come up to Romancia's computer that she had set up with USTREAM to tell all of his fans hello, and yes, there was a kiss blown. *dies at the thought* I admittedly did not catch it at first because I was busy moderating the USTREAM chat itself, but when I saw the video, OMP (oh my Potter)!!

During the main event Vaughn, the Executive Director of St. Tammany, introduced Ruthie (@tvdfansonline), to present the AH-MAZE-ING amount of money that you, the fans donated to Natalie's (@xVampDiariesx) Ian Somerhalder Birthday Project. The expression on Ian's face said it all, his fans are THE BEST!

The sole purpose for this event was to raise money so that St. Tammany Humane can continue to help the abandoned animals that they bring to their shelter. Please check out their site www.sttammanyhumanesociety.org  to learn more about this amazing organization.

I have included some pictures and video courtesy of Romancia so be sure to check them out below. I know all that attended had one of the best days of their lives, and I can't wait to join you all next year at the 2nd annual Unleashed Bash on the Bayou November 12, 2011!!!

And do keep an eye out for more information on this event.

A Million Zillion Thanks To Sounds Under Radio

Earlier today I was handed a package by the mailman, and the very first thing that I noticed written at top left corner was, Sounds Under Radio. I got a little jiggy with it after I had the package in my hand, and decided not to open it until I could give it the proper attention as I was headed out to visit a friend in the hospital Needless to say when I finally returned back home I immediately opened up the envelope and took in all of its contents. The AH-MAZING members of Sounds Under Radio, Lang, Bradley, Sonny, and Doug had sent me not only an autographed copy of their CD Cinematica, but I also recieved an autographed poster, ANNNNND A FREAKIN' HAND WRITTEN MESSAGE IN A CARD!!!! You guys have NO idea how much I adore handwritten personalized messages.

I couldn't thank the guys enough which, I've probably tweeted them thank you's worth a lifetime, but again, THANK YOU LANG, BRADLEY, SONNY, AND DOUG SOOOOOO MUCH! A MILLION ZILLION TIMES OVER! And please if you are reading this check them out. I don't go out of my way to recommend bands or anything for that matter very often, but I PROMISE YOU you won't regret it.
